Hazelnut
Unlike other fruiting trees, the hazelnut tree blooms and pollinates in the middle of winter. The nuts mature during the summer months (turning in color from green to hazel). The hazelnuts are then harvested in late summer and early autumn when the nuts fall to the ground within a short period.
Hazelnuts are rich in fibre, vitamins, minerals and other nutrients. Hazelnuts contain significant amounts of B group vitamins including folate and Vitamin B6 as well as other minerals. Hazelnuts are also the highest in fibre of all the nuts, contain no cholesterol and are an excellent source of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats.
Hazelnuts are extensively used in confectionery to make praline and also used in combination with chocolate for chocolate truffles and products such as hazelnut spreads.
Our honey roasted diced hazelnuts are beginning to generate new applications as our unique coating provides an ideal barrier against moisture in products such as ice cream.
| Wholesale Bulk Snacks
| Sorry, not available as a bulk snack As the hazelnut has a thin skin on the nut, our coating does not adhere to the nut. As we pride ourselves on only supplying premium gourmet nuts, we are not prepared to sell a poorly coated hazelnut. We are working on it. |
